Motor Services Ltd Fleet No ERG52 Registration number UFM 52F. This bus
is a 1968 Bristol RELL, which was a rear engined long low frame with a
Gardner 6LW engine. it's overall length was 36ft with a 18ft 6in
wheelbase. Bodywork was by E.C.W. with 50 seats.
Between 1968 and 1972 ERG52 was garaged at Rock Ferry, West Kirby and
Liverpool depots. 52 was then moved to Caernarvon and was a regular on
the Cymru Coastliner Service. Subsequently 52 was moved to Holyhead
from 1976 to 1978 then to mid Wales until being officially withdrawn
13th July 1981.
The bus then passed to Greasby scouts until 1988. From 1988 to 1993 52
languished on a Heswall farm where it was discovered and then restored
by the 201 bus group in Birkenhead. ERG52 is now privately owned and
forms part of the Birkenhead Heritage Transport collection at Wirral
Transport Museum.
