Night at The Museum
|
Wirral Transport
Museum once again hosted A Night at the Museum. The museum was lit up
like a disco with an array of different lighting courtesy of R Discos
and DJ AJ who organised the evening. The Museum has never seen so many
people in the building at the same time. Three trams were ruunning and
they were all packed all evening. We sold out of Hot Dogs and the cafe
went through 16 pints of milk and nearly sold out of everything. If you
haven't been before, make sure you come to the next one and see what
the museum looks like at lit up at night. Ride the trams in the dark or
practice your night time photography.

2022 Bus & Tram Show
|
Sunday
2 October was the day of the Wirral Bus & Tram Show. The weather
was favourable, the sun shone all day which brought out the crowds.
With trade stands in the museum, a bus display in the car park opposite
Pacific Road and classic cars at Woodside outside the Ferry building,
the crowds flocked like never before. All areas of the show, the first
full show since 2019, were packed with people. The trams had day rider
tickets so you pay one price and could ride all day, as many did! The
traders in the museum reported a very successful day. Classic buses
were offering tours to various parts of the Wirral mostly with a full
complement of passengers. We have had great feedback from visitors as
to how good an event it was. Roll on 2023!

Very Welcome News
|
|
|
As
some of our visitors this past weekend may have noticed, we have now
had permission from Wirral Borough Council to start running trams once
again on Saturdaysand Sundays and we had two successful running days
last weekend. We also had a vintage bus offering short tours around
Birkenhead Docks (something we hope to repeat on selected weekends in
the future).
The
tram service has had to be curtailed though because of the poor
condition of track beyond the traffic lights by the Police hut in Shore
Road. Therefore trams not now run down to Woodside Ferry until track
repairs along that section have been undertaken.
Subject
to the availability of volunteer crews and vehicles (which could change
at short notice), trams will now run from the museum at the times
specified on our opening times page.
It
is ashort walk from the Police Hut to Hamilton Square Station
(Merseyrail). The Transport Museum will be fully open on Saturdays and
Sundays from 1pm to 4pm along with the Sales Kiosk and Museum Cafe.
Entrance to the museum is free.
We
should like to thank you for your patronage of the Museum since we
re-opened to visitors and hope that you will continue to support us in
our restoration projects and the upkeep of our historic tram fleet.
This you can do by riding our trams, visiting our cafe and sales kiosk
and by voluntary donations.
Membership forms can be obtained from the kiosk or you can click here for details.
