The
MTPS will have a stand at this year's Wirral Transport Show which takes
place at Hooton Park Hangars on Sunday October 5. As usual, the annual
free-to-enter show will attract families with young children as well as
transport enthusiasts from throughout the North West and even further
afield. Opening times are 10 am to 4 pm.
Vintage
buses which have been lovingly restored by their owners, and are
garaged in the historic First World War aircraft hangars, will be out
on display or giving free rides for visitors to places of local
interest. Mystery bus trips are also planned.
There are also buses invited from other organisations, plus historic commercial vehicles, classic cars and motor cycles.
Says
show organiser John Nolan who has been an organiser of the annual
transport shows (formerly known as the Wirral Bus & Tram Show, and
centred on Wirral Transport Museum and heritage tramway) since 1998:
"This will be the second successive year this show has re-located from
the Birkenhead waterfront but we are expexcting an even better turn out
than last year's event which was very successful."
As
well as free bus ries, there will be remote controlled vehicles, model
boats on the boating lake, a model railway, plus stalls selling
transport items and books. Other features include the Museum of
Printing, and Wirral Amateur Radio Society. Light refreshments will be
available.
As
there is very limited parking at the site, visitors with cars are
requested to park in Hooton railway station's vast car park and join
people coming by train by travelling to and from the show on one of the
frequent free vintage buses operating a shuttle to the hangars.
